We’re very happy to eventually feature Sinchi Collective member and fellow Amsterdam resident Pedro Martins.  The Portuguese artist is known for his varied sets is an avid crate digger and equally talented producer.  2019 has already seen him play in Barcelona and Berlin for Sinchi. 1) Introduce yourself?

My name is Pedro Martins, I am originally from Portugal and I live in Amsterdam. I am Dj an producer, a member of the Sinchi Collective and I run Karakter Records together with my friend Marco Antão.

2)What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

Gigs wise, at Lux in Lisboa, in Lyon with at the Terminal Club and in Stockholm at Neu. 

3)What do you have lined up for the coming year?

I have 3 releases lined till the end of this year. All in different labels and that’s all I can say for now.

MUSIC

4)Which track in the mix is your favourite right now?

I would pick K2 (Kornelije Kovac) – The Body (Kompleks Edits) just out on 44.100Khz Social Club. Love it.

5)What is your favourite track of the last 12 months?

Ouch, that’s and hard one. I guess the remix of Polaroid by Club Duro which is a free download. 

6)What is the last record you bought?

Mekine U Teksi – Die Streppenrobotter LP (Themes for Great Cities) 

7) Whats your number 1 go-to track of all time?

Hmmm,  so many. But I will pick, Hunee – Brother. 

8) Who or what are your biggest musical influences?

Rather than who, I go for what. Mainly, African rhythms, a lot of the 80s and life in general.

9) Tell us about 3 DJ’s / Producer’s we may not know but should be looking out for?

Anatolian Weapons, Fabio Fabio and Pletnev,

10) What is your favourite Venue or Festival to play at and why?

Sisyphos and the Funky Beach at Boom Festival, it was always great fun.

PERSONAL

11) Do you have a ritual before you start playing or straight after?

I like to arrive one hour before playing, listen to the Dj before me.

12) What is your favourite bit of kit?

My UAD Apollo and the Electron Analog Rytm

13) What is your favourite film score?

There are many, but I recently all the soundtracks of Stranger Things.

14) What is your dream destination?

Caraiva, Brazil.

15) What makes you smile?

In general, all the good things in life and authenticity above all.
