Applied Magic makes a triumphant return with Tokyo-based Boys Be Kko. The Airwalk EP showcases two original tracks from the Japanese maverick, topped with a mashup by labelhead Aera. Airwalk is the star of the show – a hands-in-the-air anthem boasting a signature melody that intertwines with metallic, extraterrestrial synth stabs. A standout moment in every Aera set in the recent months and a tune that will get stuck in your head for sure. On the flip side, “Lalala” offers a delightful fusion of Latin-inspired melodies, flamboyant percussions, and an infectious, carefree spirit. A strong contender for the upcoming open air season. Applied Magic’s head honcho Aera takes both tracks and expertly blends them into a unique mash-up, seamlessly combining the best elements of each for a certified dancefloor stomper. Taking a cue from the title track, the artwork is inspired by 80s skateboard culture and a certain popular shoebrand. Hope we don’t get sued for this.
