Last year left us many jewels to enjoy and remember. This one, by Sebastien Bouchet, rests easy between them.
The feet keep walking in limbo. The piece starts in dark soil and evolves –through continuous progression– to a self wounding and regenerating mechanics on itself. The voice invites to the fire as a metaphor of the pain it suffers. But the repetition holds a two-fold meaning, for at first is persuasion, but then also reassuring of the force that motivates the self. It is a call for obscurity, of self-flagellation, but also of release and letting go. All the elements align in the mix so in this way suffering, energy, beat, voices and layers, come together in communion by becoming one in balanced synchronicity.
